CALL FOR PAPERS
Organizing Data, Information, and Knowledge in Big Data Environments
We are delighted to invite you to submit your work for presentation at JCDL 2019 (https://2019.jcdl.org/) Workshop on Organizing Data, Information, and Knowledge in Big Data Environments.
This workshop will provide an opportunity for participants – information and computing researchers and professionals who work in the areas of information organization, information retrieval, knowledge management, data mining, and Big Data analytics — to get together and exchange research ideas on organizing access to data, information, and knowledge in Big Data environments. We expect to discuss various theories, methods, techniques, challenges, and new research directions as related to information organization in the context of Big Data. Especially we would like to explore innovative ideas on new organization framework for digital libraries, evaluation and applications of knowledge graphs, semantic role labeling of scholarly Big Data, data and information organization in different domains and for different purposes. The workshop will allow researchers to communicate with their peers on projects and develop new ideas through presentation and discussion. We hope to establish a community of researchers from related disciplines and explore questions critical to the future development of synergies between information science and data science in the area of organizing information.
Participants of this workshop will be invited to submit the accepted full paper to The Electronic Library (http://www.emeraldinsight.com/journal/el), a peer-reviewed SSCI journal on information organization.
The possible topics that we would like to call for submissions include but are not limited to:
- Theoretical developments to support organization of data, information, and knowledge in the Big Data environment
- New organization framework for future digital libraries
- Semantic role labeling of scholarly Big Data
- Knowledge graph evaluation and applications
- Systematic literature review or analysis of organizing data, information, and knowledge, in Big Data environment
- Large-scale metadata quality analysis, evaluation and control
- Information architecture and user experience evaluation
- Automatic metadata extraction
- Data or information modeling approaches: domain-specific (e.g., legal, medical, linguistic, etc.) or domain-independent.
Authors are invited to submit at least an extensive summary of their paper for review. Please email your submission to email@example.com. The extensive summary should be at least 800 words highlighting the research purposes and/or questions, a brief literature review, methodology or research design, and significance. At least one of the authors per paper is expected to register and attend the workshop if the paper is accepted. Each accepted paper will be presented at the workshop on June 6th, 2019 at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Authors of accepted workshop submissions are invited to develop full papers and submit them to the special issue of The Electronic Library journal after the workshop. A full paper that is no longer than 6,000 words needs to be written at the time when the workshop is held. This will allow the workshop participants to provide feedback to the authors. All papers must be original contributions. The material must therefore not have been previously published or be under review for publication elsewhere. All contributions must be written in English and must follow The Electronic Library author formatting guidelines and templates available at http://emeraldgrouppublishing.com/products/journals/author_guidelines.htm?id=el.
